National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The ANU Indigenous Department have put together a list of events happening across ANU and Canberra this Reconciliation Week:
Sat 28 May
Gurrumal (2017) Screening - 2pm
A portrait of one of Australia's most celebrated and influential voices, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yuninpingu, who was born blind from birth and found purpose and meaning through music and songs.
Documentary film screening: The Lake of Scars - 2pm
This 'must-see documentary' (Cinema Australia) deals with the area's scarred trees, middens, wetlands, and the relationship between Dja Dja Wurrung people and members of the wider community as they navigate the ups and downs of what reconciliation in Australia really means.

ANU Film Group screening: Message From Mungo - 2pm
Directed by ANU alumnus (and ANUFG co-founder) Andrew Pike , Message From Mungo explores the interaction between scientists and the custodians of Indigenous heritage at Lake Mungo, where one of the earliest human remains was found.
Mon 30 May
Reconciliation Day at the Arboretum - 10am-3pm
Designed to promote conversation and foster a deeper understanding of our national story and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, there will be bush tucker demonstrations, arts, crafts and storytelling to live entertainment, stalls and exhibitions.
ANU Film Group screening: The Australian Dream - 5:30pm
AFL legend Adam Goodes shares the story of his life and career to offer a deeper insight into race, identity, and belonging.
Tue 31 May
Heritage walk with Uncle Wally Bell - 1pm
Join Ngunnawal Elder Uncle Wally Bell on a guided tour to experience the rich Indigenous history of our ANU campus, learn about the importance of Sullivan's Creek and Black Mountain, navigate across Country, bush foods and medicines, ceremony and tradition and gain knowledge on how local First Nations peoples managed their land.

Indigenous Stargazing with Pete Swanton and Brad Tucker - 6pm
Join Indigenous astronomer Pete Swanton and astrophysicist Dr Brad Tucker on Fellows Oval to stargaze using telescopes to navigate the skies. You will get a chance to chat with Pete and Brad to learn about Australia's rich and extensive history of stargazing and how it differs from Western methods that we often used today.?

National Reconciliation Week Lecture - 1:30pm
Andrea Kelly, A/g Group Manager, Social Policy and Programs Group at the National Indigenous Australians Agency and a proud Waramungu and Larrakia woman, with strong family connections throughout the Northern Territory deliver the University's 2022 annual National Reconciliation Week Lecture.
