FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY 2022

There's just ONE week to go until the biggest party of the year goes down on ANU Campus! Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Buoys are unfortunately no longer able to join us next Friday. BUT we have been lucky enough to snag the amazing The Lazy Eyes to take their place.

So join Skegss, Confidence Man, The Lazy Eyes, Birdz, Sputnik Sweetheart, and Saint Beryl for a great night and the best food and entertainment Canberra has to offer.

ANUSA Election

Each year, a new ANUSA team is elected. All ANU undergrad students are encouraged to vote. Voting opens 9am Monday 26 September and closes 12pm Thursday 29 September

Safe Scenes Gallery

This year, the ANU BIPOC Department campaigned to secure a physical, autonomous safe space for all BIPOC students on campus. In addition, they have collected submission pieces from BIPOC students to showcase their work in a gallery exhibition under the theme of SAFE SCENES.

This week's announcement of the constitutional expansion of ANUSA's membership to include postgraduates is a significant and historic moment. This decision is not one that has been taken lightly, and ANUSA recognises that this change will undoubtedly have important consequences. As such, ANUSA is committed to organising multiple consultations to ensure as many students as possible have a chance to provide direct feedback to ANUSA ahead of OGM 3.

As such, a consultation for ANUSA members will be held this Friday 4-6pm in the BKSS, which will be in-person and online. A second consultation will be held next Tuesday 10am-12pm in the ANUSA Board Room, which will also include an online option.

ANUSA actively invites any student, undergraduate or postgraduate, to contact Christian Flynn at sa.president@anu.edu.au if they have any further questions or concerns they would like to raise. ANUSA will be organising further consultations in the coming weeks for all students, and ANUSA commits to continuing to engage directly with postgraduate students on these changes.

ANU Appeals Panel Undergraduate Nominations - closing 23 September
The ANU Appeals Panel is a body that reviews disciplinary matters pertaining to students potential breaches of the code of conduct and academic integrity. Every year, ANUSA nominates undergraduate students to the panel to sit alongside ANU staff members to review appeals under the Appeals Rule.

The Appeals Panel is great for students who have an interest or experience in dealing with complex problem-solving and ensuring that there is due process and natural justice provided to all parties. The workload is highly variable (varying from no work to several hours per week) depending on the number of appeals being made. The work can occasionally include distressing material.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please send 150-200 words to the ANUSA President, Christian Flynn, at sa.president@anu.edu.au. It is expected that you will serve on the Panel for a period of 2 years (i.e., until the end of 2024). Applications close on 23 September at 5PM.

Election Events
This year for the ANUSA election, we're hosting some fun events to help you find out how you can have your say in who's elected to your student union SRC for 2023! Events include democracy sausage, pide night and puppy playdate! Stay tuned on the ANUSA Facebook page for more info.
