Daley Rd Bus Petition

Are you an on campus student who struggles with lugging groceries home, finds it hard getting around Canberra or feels unsafe walking home at night?

There was once a bus that solved all these problems, and there can be again. Sign this petition to restore the bus line which would be a huge victory for student welfare.

Keep ANU Hybrid

ANU’s plan to move classes in-person only disproportionately affects disabled and immunocompromised students, working students and parents and carers. Keeping classes hybrid will ensure all students have equal access to tertiary education. This petition will be presented to ANU once we reach 500 signatures, and will be the first step in our campaign to Keep ANU Hybrid.

Stop the lockout fee

After ANUSA launched a petition last week, the university has amended the lockout fee policy slightly but a lockout can still cost as much as $100. Students were calling for the fee change to be cancelled entirely. This falls far short of what we wanted.

An International Women’s Day protest has been called in Canberra on 8 March, to fight for improved abortion access.

Despite the success of previous protests, abortion remains inaccessible in Canberra. Calvary Hospital is still allowed to deny treatment on religious grounds. Abortion procedures after 16 weeks are completely unavailable without travel to an interstate clinic due to a lack of specialists. This is part of a broader crisis of funding and accessibility for women’s and trans health procedures here.

We need to reclaim the radical roots of what was once International Working Women’s Day, a day initially founded by the revolutionary socialist wing of the workers movement. In much of the world, IWD is a day of corporate brunches celebrating the ascent of an elite group of women while the rest still suffer the scourge of sexism.

ANUSA encourages all members to attend the protest in Kambri on 8 March.
