ANUSA Postgrad Representatives

As ANUSA becomes the student union for all students, ANUSA has a number of opportunities for postgraduate students.

We are looking for representatives to sit on the Student Representative Council from 2 August to 30 November 2023. These representatives will have opportunities to engage in areas of academic advocacy, activism, and improving education at the ANU for Postgraduates.

If you are passionate about education, such as improving education accessibility or improving life for PhD or postgraduate coursework at the ANU, these are the position you should consider nominating for! Check the nomination form for more details.


College representatives 

Role: 

  • Represent students in the college to the administration of the college with regards to issues of education, welfare and student experience. 

  • Assist students with educational issues to navigate college administrative processes and provide individual advocacy where appropriate to assist students to reach an agreeable outcome. 

  • Provide a voice for students from the given college and cohort within ANUSA, including contributing to policy. 

  • Provide assistance and support to class representatives (coursework representatives) or build relationships with any school-level graduate representatives (HDR representatives). 

  • If desired, organise events, with support of ANUSA staff. 

  • Attend ANUSA meetings. 

  • Attend ANU committee meetings and build working relationships with senior staff in the college.

  • ANUSA Education Council 

  • ANUSA Student Representative Council 

  • Other ANU committee positions are available from time to time upon appointment by the ANUSA President 

Which ANU areas does the position engage with: 

  • The academic college 

Compensation: 

  • This role is voluntary however is eligible for discretionary honoraria for service over and above the role description 



Postgraduate Coursework Officer 

Role: 

  • Represent postgraduate coursework students to the University with regards to issues of education, welfare and student experience. 

  • Provide a voice for postgraduate coursework students within ANUSA, including contributing to policy. 

  • Provide support and assistance to postgraduate coursework college representatives in ANUSA. 

  • If desired, organise events, with support of ANUSA staff. 

  • Attend ANUSA meetings. 

  • Attend ANU committee meetings and build working relationships with senior staff at ANU. 

Committees: 

  • ANUSA Education Council 

  • ANUSA Student Representative Council 

  • ANUSA Academic Management Committee 

  • Other ANU committee positions are available from time to time upon appointment by the ANUSA President. These are likely to include: 
    - Academic Board 
    - Learning and Teaching Committee (formerly TLDC) 
    - Academic Quality Assurance Committee 

Which ANU areas does the position engage with: 

  • Chancellery/Senior Management 

  • University Experience  

Compensation: 

  • This role is paid an annual stipend of $7,500. This will be pro-rated for the period served (approximately four months - $2500) 

 

Higher Degree by Research Officer

Role: 

  • Represent HDR candidates to the University with regards to issues of education, welfare and student experience. 

  • Provide a voice for HDR candidates within ANUSA, including contributing to policy. 

  • Provide support and assistance to HDR college representatives in ANUSA. 

  • If desired, organise events, with support of ANUSA staff. 

  • Attend ANUSA meetings. 

  • Attend ANU committee meetings and build working relationships with senior staff at ANU. 

Committees: 

  • ANUSA Education Council 

  • ANUSA Student Representative Council 

  • ANUSA Academic Management Committee 

  • Other ANU committee positions are available from time to time upon appointment by the ANUSA President. These are likely to include:
    - University Research Committee 
    - Higher Degree by Research Committee 
    - HDR Consultative Committee 
    - Library Advisory Committee
    - Student Safety and Wellbeing Steering Group

  • Chancellery/Senior Management, especially Dean HDR 

  • University Experience 

Compensation: 

  • This role is paid an annual stipend of $7,500. This will be pro-rated for the period served (approximately four months - $2500) 

 

Parents and Carers Officer 

Role: 

  • Represent parents and carers to the University with regards to issues of education, welfare and student experience. 

  • Provide a voice for parents and carers within ANUSA, including contributing to policy. 

  • Administer and manage a parents and carers committee. 

  • Organise events for families, parents and carers, with support from ANUSA staff. 

  • Attend ANUSA meetings. 

  • Attend ANU committee meetings and build working relationships with senior staff at ANU. 

Committees: 

  • ANUSA Education Council 

  • ANUSA Student Representative Council 

  • ANUSA Academic Management Committee 

  • Other ANU committee positions are available from time to time upon appointment by the ANUSA President. These are likely to include: 
    - Childcare Liaisons 

Which ANU areas does the position engage with: 

  • Chancellery/Senior Management 

  • Facilities and Services 

  • University Experience 

  • Residential Experience 

Compensation: 

  • This role is paid an annual stipend of $15000. This will be pro-rated for the period served (approximately four months - $5000)
