Deferred Exam

If applying for special consideration will not address your situation, then you can also choose to apply for deferred examination. Deferred exam means “sitting of an examination at a time other than the scheduled time/date”. These include mid-term and final exams but not the regular assessments.

However, deciding if you should apply for special consideration or a deferred exam can be a challenging one. Wherever possible, it is advisable to attempt the exam and apply for special circumstances. However, if the extenuating circumstances do not allow you to attempt the exam and it is likely that you will be able to get the independent supporting documents to explain your situation, then you can apply for deferred examination via ISIS (manage my degree tab). ANU has shared more details on the process on their website. If you are not sure about any step of the process, do not hesitate to contact ANUSA student assistance team at sa.assistance@anu.edu.au.
