ANUSA Accommodation Assistance Program (AAP) provides emergency accommodation assistance to eligible enrolled undergraduate students who are experiencing an emergency that has resulted in difficulties securing accommodation.

ANUSA books shared accommodation at Canberra Accommodation Centre for up to 7 nights and allocates to the successful applicants, depending on the availability of space at the youth hostel.

To be eligible, applicant must:

·         Have accepted an offer of enrolment at the ANU & be enrolled for the semester

·         Be in search of long-term accommodation

·         Be in need of short-term emergency accommodation

·         Not rely on Accommodation Assistance Program for long-term occupancy

The ANUSA Grocery Voucher Program (GVP) is designed to provide access to groceries and essential items for undergraduate students who are in financial hardship. A maximum total of $50 worth of Coles grocery vouchers can be granted to a student per semester.
For Voucher and Grant purposes, ANUSA considers Semester 1 as January – June and Semester 2 as July – December.

The eligibility criteria for GVP is that student must be a currently enrolled student and experiencing financial hardship.

ANUSA Transport Voucher Program is currently on hold as travel is currently free in the ACT until November 2024.

ANUSA has a Transport Voucher Program available to students who use public transportation but cannot pay for the cost due to financial hardship. Eligible students can access 20 Transport Canberra vouchers per semester based on their circumstances.

Each year ANUSA and the Australian National University (ANU) may offer a bursary known as the ANU Book Bursary. 

The objective of the bursary is to support and assist students facing financial hardship to purchase books which are essential to their studies. Recommended reading materials may not be covered. Funding for this bursary has been provided by generous ANU alumni. 

Successful applicants will be notified of their outcome and will be able to pick up the book(s) from the ANUSA office.

The Graduation Ceremony Assistance Program (GCAP) assists students who are experiencing financial hardship that might prevent them attending their graduation ceremony. The program covers the cost of academic regalia hire for the approved applicants. Financial hardship is where a student, by hiring graduation attire, might be left unable to provide for themselves or their dependents in regards to food, accommodation, essential clothing, medical treatment, education or other basic necessities. To be eligible, applicant must:

·         Be enrolled as an ANU student including undergraduate, postgraduate and research

·         Be eligible to graduate at the July or December ceremonies including conditional approval

·         Able to demonstrate financial hardship

The application dates are updated each year after exam period and before the graduation ceremonies.
