Protect Our Mid-Sem Break

Sign the ANUSA Ed-Com petition to protect the mid-Semester break! The ANU has recently proposed putting mid-semester exams during the break; a period used by students and staff as a time to travel, visit home, work, and protect their mental health. This proposal could stretch a 12-week semester with a two-week break into a 14-week semester with uncertainty about when exams will fall.

Absence of student consultation on a change of this scale is unacceptable. Sign the petition via the link in our bio to make your voice heard, and keep an eye out for our upcoming student survey to push for change and alternatives.

ANU Appeals Panel - Nominations Open

The ANU Appeals Panel is a body that reviews disciplinary matters pertaining to students potential breaches of the code of conduct and academic integrity. Every year, ANUSA nominates undergraduate, postgraduate and HDR students to the panel to sit alongside ANU staff members to review appeals under the Appeals Rule.

The Appeals Panel is great for students who have an interest or experience in dealing with complex problem-solving and ensuring that there is due process and natural justice provided to all parties. The workload is highly variable (varying from no work to several hours per week) depending on the number of appeals being made. The work can occasionally include distressing material.

All committee members must bring an impartial and open mind to consideration of each case, and look to make a fair and reasonable decision with regard to all the material before them. Nominees should be in good academic standing.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please send 150-200 words to the ANUSA President, Charley Ellwood, at sa.president@anu.edu.au. It is expected that you will serve on the Panel for a period of 2 years (i.e., until the end of 2028). Applications close on 18 September at 5PM.

Representational Painting and ‘The flesh of the world’ with artist Jude Rae
Sunday 6 September, Coombs Lecture Theatre, 2pm
