ANUSA Assistance Grant

The ANUSA Assistance Grant is designed to provide financial support to eligible enrolled students who are experiencing sudden or unexpected financial hardship that is adversely affecting their education. The main criteria for a grant are the demonstration of a genuine need and that continued study may be in jeopardy due to financial hardship. The maximum grant available is $750 per semester.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled as an ANU student

  • Be able to demonstrate genuine and unexpected financial need 

  • If the applicant holds an overseas student visa, they must demonstrate a genuine and unforeseen change in financial circumstances that occurred after commencing their program of study, given that visa requirements already require evidence of adequate financial capacity.

Additional Information

This is a grant, and the money will not have to be paid back. As such, grants are not a permanent means for a student to support themselves. While individual circumstances may vary, an ANUSA Assistance Grant may be used to cover:

  • Unexpected medical bills

  • Accommodation

  • Short-term living expenses (due to delayed income, etc.)

  • Emergency travel costs

The grant will not be provided for the following costs/reasons:

  • HECS or course fees

  • Discretionary expenses

  • Credit card or other debts

  • Motor-vehicle related expenses

  • A buffer fund for non-immediate use

How to apply

  1. Click “Apply Here” > Financial Grant > Select  ANUSA Assistance Grant  in “Type of Grant”. 

  2. Provide the requested supporting documentation, which includes a confirmation of enrolment letter and bank statement from all bank accounts for the last 60 days in PDF format. Instructions on how you can download these documents are located below.

  3. You may be asked to provide additional evidence where required.

We do not accept CSV bank statements for our grants.
