Emergency Accommodation

ANUSA Accommodation Assistance Program (AAP) provides emergency accommodation assistance to eligible enrolled ANU students who are experiencing an emergency that has resulted in difficulties securing accommodation.

ANUSA books shared accommodation at Canberra Accommodation Centre – for up to 7 nights and allocates to the successful applicants, depending on the availability of space at the youth hostel.

To be eligible, applicant must:

  • Have accepted an offer of enrolment at the ANU & be enrolled for the semester
  • Be in search of long-term accommodation
  • Be in need of short-term emergency accommodation
  • Not rely on Emergency Accommodation Assistance for long-term occupancy

Application process

Interested applicants must provide the following documents:

1. Proof of enrolment

2. Evidence of applications to accommodation – e.g. ANU Housing application, queries to offcampus agents, including email queries. (If applicable)

ANUSA Student Assistance Team will decide based on evidence, if a student qualifies for accommodation support and will determine the duration of occupancy allowed. Successful applicants are required to notify ANUSA Student Assistance Team of any changes to the length of their stay, especially if they need fewer days’ accommodation than granted.
