ANUSA Education Update

Hi everyone! My name is Aurora, and I'm the ANUSA Education Officer. I've decided to write a section for this week's newsletter with an update regarding some things happening in the education space that you might have heard of/should be aware of. If you have any questions, you can always reach me at sa.education@anu.edu.au!

  • Alongside the free AI literacy course that was shared a couple of weeks ago, the university will be running AI student 'round-tables' around bush-week to develop it's AI policy; ANUSA will be running its own student consultation discussions on the 5th of May, at 6pm in the ANUSA Boardroom. If you have thoughts or experiences you want to share with us, come along!

  • There have been delays with Accessibility in relation to EAP appointments - if this has been affecting you or you need assistance, please reach out to the Disabilities Student Association (DSA) at sa.disabilities@anu.edu.au, or ANUSA.

    • The delay for submission of Specific Exam Arrangements (SEAs) is the 14th of May.

  • On the 5th of May, University of Canberra staff are going on strike. ANUSA will be sending over a student contingent to show solidarity with staff - if you are interested, join us at the strike! If you have accessibility requirements, reach out to us and we can assist with transport to UC campus.

  • If you're interested in accessibility in education, scholarship reform systems at the ANU, or weapons divestment, come along to the next meeting of the Education Committee (May 4th @5pm, ANUSA Boardroom)! We will be running a working bee session next meeting to develop our three campaigns - if any of these areas spark your interest, come along and have a chat!

New! A Student-Led Wellbeing Space At The ANU - Help Make It Happen

The ANU is creating a new, student-led service dedicated to wellbeing, connection, and support. We are looking for 6 ANU students (postgraduate, undergraduate, international, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and students with lived experiences) to join a newly established Working Group, that will consult and co-design this service with the ANU community.

We would love to hear from passionate students interested in making this a reality. As part of the Working Group, you will help shape what this space looks and feels like, how it works and what it does, so it can make a difference to student wellbeing on campus. This initiative is a key action from the ANU Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

What you’ll gain:

  • An opportunity to contribute to meaningful, student-led safe space
  • Experience in co-design, collaboration, and leadership
  • A chance to advocate student voices and make meaningful impact on mental health and wellbeing

If you are enthusiastic about improving student wellbeing and creating a supportive campus environment, we encourage you to apply.

Are you interested? Please send us a maximum one-page Expression of Interest via email to the Inclusive and Respectful Communities Team at inclusive.communities@anu.edu.au by 8 May 2026. Please say why you’d like to join and what you hope to contribute. You may also wish to review the Terms of Reference for additional details.
