Having trouble finding casual work while studying at uni?
ANUSA’s Skill Up Program is designed to help students find casual work while studying at ANU. The program will help equip you with skills and certifications to help find casual employment.
Skill Up aims to cover the cost of the following training(s)/ certification:
· Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course (Offered at CIT Reid Campus)
| Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) SITHFAB201 certification is a mandatory requirement for anyone employed to serve liquor in the ACT. The RSA is a nationally accredited unit of competency which is in the Certificate III Hospitality qualification.The course is run over 1 session (4 hours). |
· Coffee Making Course (Offered at CIT Reid Campus)
Non-accredited, coffee-making skills only. Very helpful in finding a job at a café on-campus or close to the university. The course is run over 1 session (5 hours)
· Working with Vulnerable People Card (Students to pay and get reimbursed)
The WWVP scheme aims to reduce the risk of harm or neglect to vulnerable people in the ACT. It requires those who work or volunteer with vulnerable people to have a background check to determine an applicant’s suitability to be registered under the scheme. This card is very helpful in finding jobs in childcare, aged home care, disability worker and similar sectors which have interaction with vulnerable people. The application fee for this card is currently $146.
If successful, students can apply for the card themselves and get the cost reimbursed under the Skill Up program by showing the receipt/invoice of the application.

If different training programs are better suited to your needs, this can be addressed in the application form. The ANUSA committee will assess the proposal and may approve the training.
