Effective Altruism is a community of people who want to help others, and who are willing to think carefully about the best ways of doing good.
EA ANU exists to help its members position themselves to have an impactful career, as well as to provide a fun, wholesome community which supports their ambitions to do good in the world.
People in the EA community are often interested in things like:
- Global health/global poverty
- Mental health and happiness
- Animal welfare
- Philanthropy
- Moral philosophy
- AI Safety
- The long-term survival and flourishing of life on earth
We hold regular, weekly, events, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend! Even if you disagree with the philosophy of effective altruism - most of us are very interested in constructive conversations that might help us improve our thinking, so we would love you to attend!
Common types of events we run include:
- Speaker events
- Study sessions
- Casual social gatherings
- Career workshops
- Dinner
