College of Law - HDR Writing Retreat

College of Law - HDR Writing Retreat

Mon 17 May 2021 09:00 - Fri 21 May 2021 17:00

Mount Stromlo Observatory

UPDATE: The deadline for registration has now been extended to this Friday (7 May).

College of Law HDR students are invited to a writing retreat to be held in the beautiful setting of ANU’s Mount Stromlo campus.

The focus of this event will be to create a supportive and inspiring environment to enable each participant to focus on their own writing practice.

Each day will begin with goal setting, with the core of the day structured around ‘shut-up-and-write’ style writing blocks, and finishing each day with some reflection.

Throughout the week, participants will also hear from the ANU Academic Skills team on writing a great abstract and presenting academic work, as well as from some recently-completed PhD students sharing their experiences of getting the thesis done, and what comes next!

Choose your writing goal – whether it be starting a draft of a new chapter, reworking a current one, or transforming a chapter into a journal article – and come get it done with supportive and likeminded colleagues.

When: Monday-Friday, 17-21 May, 9am-5pm (If you can come for the whole week, that would be fantastic!)

Sessions Available:

- Full Day Session (9am-5pm, lunch included)

- Morning Session (9am-1pm, lunch included)

- Afternoon Session (1-5pm, refreshment included)

*Please arrive 10 minutes earlier before your session starts.

Where: CSO Common Room, Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics, Mount Stromlo Observatory (check out where it is on the Google Map)

Transport: Participants will be responsible for their own transport to and from the event each day, as the event is non-residential. Check out the directions from ANU Acton campus to Mt Stromlo here.
